Description

THIS PRODUCT: Highly effective general purpose wetting agent suitable for most situations.

Benefits of AquaFix Granular Wetting Agent:

  • Improves Water Penetration
  • Helps Prevent Dry Patch in Turf and Lawns
  • Improves Wettability of Growing Media

Ease of application and no requirement to water-in make FloraTech AquaFix Granules an excellent option for use in large broadacre areas such as fairways and surrounds, ovals, parks and gardens and also in growing/potting media mixes.

AquaFix Granules are a non-ionic surfactant suitable for use in most situations where water repellency inhibits or prevents the growth of turfgrass, gardens and potted plants.

AquaFix Granules are particularly beneficial in situations where dry application is required and where irrigation cannot be followed up immediately.

AquaFix Granules are ideally suited to application in potting mixes, fairways, large playing fields, public parks and gardens. If left untreated poor water penetration leads to weak root growth, poor nutrient uptake and low crop yields or death of sensitive plants and turf.

AquaFix Granules provide rapid penetration of water to highly water repellent soils.

In General: A granular wetting agent, also known as a soil wetting agent or a granular soil surfactant, is a product designed to improve the infiltration and distribution of water in soil. These granules contain specialized compounds that reduce the surface tension of water, allowing it to penetrate and spread more evenly throughout the soil. Here’s a description of granular wetting agents and their common uses:

Description: Granular wetting agents are made up of water-absorbing granules that are coated or impregnated with surfactant compounds. The primary purpose of these wetting agents is to address water-repellent or hydrophobic soil conditions. Hydrophobic soil repels water, causing water to bead up on the soil surface rather than infiltrating and being absorbed by the soil particles. Granular wetting agents work to overcome this issue by improving water penetration and distribution.

Key characteristics of granular wetting agents include:

  1. Water-Absorbing Granules: The granules in these products have the ability to absorb and retain water, which helps distribute the wetting agent throughout the soil when the granules are irrigated.
  2. Surfactant Coating: The granules are coated or impregnated with surfactants, which are chemical compounds that reduce the surface tension of water, allowing it to spread and penetrate soil more effectively.
  3. Slow Release: Granular wetting agents are designed for slow-release over time, providing longer-lasting soil wetting benefits compared to liquid formulations.

Uses:

  1. Lawn Care: Granular wetting agents are used in lawn care to address localized dry spots, improve water infiltration, and promote even moisture distribution in the soil. This can help prevent drought stress and promote healthier grass growth.
  2. Gardening: Gardeners use granular wetting agents to improve soil moisture retention, especially in garden beds and containers. This is particularly useful in areas with uneven watering or in soils prone to drying out quickly.
  3. Sports Fields: Groundskeepers and sports field managers use these products to maintain consistent playing surfaces on athletic fields, preventing dry patches and ensuring safe and even playing conditions.
  4. Golf Courses: Golf course superintendents apply granular wetting agents to golf greens, fairways, and tees to promote uniform moisture levels and prevent localized dryness.
  5. Potted Plants and Container Gardens: Granular wetting agents can be used in potted plants and container gardens to improve water retention and prevent water runoff.
  6. Tree and Shrub Plantings: These products are also used in tree and shrub planting sites to ensure that newly planted trees and shrubs receive adequate moisture during establishment.
  7. Landscaping: Landscape professionals may use granular wetting agents to address soil hydrophobia in landscaped areas, ensuring that plants receive consistent moisture.

Overall: When using granular wetting agents, it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application rates and methods. These products are typically spread evenly over the soil surface and watered in thoroughly to activate them. Regular monitoring of soil moisture levels and adjustments in watering practices may be necessary to maintain optimal soil moisture conditions. Granular wetting agents are valuable tools for managing water distribution in gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas, especially in regions with variable rainfall or water scarcity.
